Stephen O. Saxe
Following a career in set design and the graphic arts, Stephen O. Saxe focused on the study and collection of letterpress printing and history. A founding member of the national American Printing History Association (APHA), Saxe was a scholar, writer, collaborator, presenter, and collector. His collection at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection contains Saxe’s printing and personal records; company and press records, type specimens, ephemera, metal type, historic leaves, tools, and presses which provide a breadth of knowledge on the printing industry throughout time. These are examples of some of the treasures from the collection which is available for researcher use.
