Dr. McGillicuddy is a licensed psychologist at RIT CaPS and is the embedded therapist in athletics. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology at St. John Fisher University and completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Midwestern University (Downers Grove, IL). He enjoys working with college-age and graduate-level students and before working at RIT he has worked and trained at other university counseling centers, such as at DePaul University in Chicago, IL, and completed his internship at the University of Michigan.
He enjoys working with a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, men’s issues, LGBTQ+, and those diagnosed with autism spectrum. He is also passionate about working with those experiencing eating and body image concerns. He provides care and support for these students facing eating and body image concerns through a collaborative care approach with health care providers in the SHC. His approach to therapy is rooted in a relational and explorative lens. Working to understand better how past experiences have shaped a student's views of themselves and others and how this manifest in their presenting concerns.
When he is not at CaPS he enjoys spending time with loved ones, reading, drawing, and hiking.
