Shantel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher University. Throughout her career, Shantel has continuously worked with students ranging from middle school through college age. Shantel appreciates the unique challenges that come with being a college student and helping students to navigate those.
Shantel specializes in working with students who come from oppressed and marginalized backgrounds including students who identify as ALANA, LGBTQIA+, International, D/deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and/or Disabled. Shantel understands how the intersectionality of multiple identities creates unique experiences for people. She is passionate about social justice and advocacy work.
Clinical interests include identity development, phases of life, self-esteem, relationship issues, and family dynamics. Besides for providing individual therapy, Shantel also co-facilitates two Community Care Spaces, one for Black women (EmpowHER) and one for International Students (Cross Cultural Connections).
Outside of work, Shantel loves to spend quality time with her family and try new activities together. Shantel also likes to read, watch documentaries, and listen to podcasts.
