Student Spotlight: Exploring engineering through Hot Wheelz team
RIT Hot Wheelz is a student-run Formula SAE Hybrid racing team that offers hands-on experience for female-identifying students interested in learning more about racing vehicles. Hannah Sones, a second-year industrial engineering major from Medina, N.Y., joined the team during her first semester at RIT.

Three students from the biomedical sciences program traveled with RIT Professor Bolaji Thomas to his native Nigeria to understand the impact tropical diseases such as malaria have on the population and the medical protocols used in treatment.

RIT to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall Uprising throughout October
RIT is hosting events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, which served as a catalyst for the LGBTQ rights movement in the United States. The RIT Q Center has partnered with student organizations across the campus to host speakers, films and interactive events to reflect on the cultural significance of Stonewall.

American Indian Science and Engineering Society gives RIT professor its highest honor
Professor Emeritus Roger Dube is the winner of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society's annual Ely S. Parker Award. The award recognizes engineers, scientists and educators who have provided exemplary service to the American Indian/Alaska Native community.

This week, RIT is helping diverse prospective faculty from across the country prepare to take the next step in their careers. Of the nearly 120 applications received, RIT welcomed 12 scholars from prestigious institutions including Penn State, UC Berkeley and the National Institutes of Health to participate in the Future Faculty Career Exploration Program.

RIT receives multiple accolades for promoting diversity and inclusion
RIT received the 2019 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education, for the sixth year in a row. Also, for the third consecutive year, RIT is being honored as an institution committed to diversity for 2019 by Minority Access Inc. And Professor André Hudson, pictured above, is among the individuals Minority Access will celebrate at the National Role Models Conference this year.
