Rochester Business Journal reports that RIT was awarded nearly $1.5 million to implement a new online certificate program to train students across microelectronics-related educational tracks.

RIT received funding from the National Semiconductor Technology Center's Workforce Partner Alliance for BRIDGE—the Broadening Research and Inter-Disciplinary Graduate Education for Microelectronics program.

WROC-TV reports that RIT is getting nearly $1.5 million to train students in microelectronics.

RIT has been awarded $3.97 million from the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH) to advance quantum chip technologies. The focus will be on scaling the power of quantum systems by entangling them across a photonic network.

The award is part of the NSF’s Research Traineeship Program (NRT), a national initiative to better prepare master’s and doctoral students for the interdisciplinary talents required in semiconductor chip development. The grant will provide 20 doctoral student fellowships to advance research in the much-needed field of semiconductor technologies.

RIT student Micheala Stout is fulfilling her first co-op experience this summer by developing an interactive toy that fine tunes the motor skills of children with developmental disabilities.

RIT will take the lead on a new program that allows community college students to join the growing semiconductor industry. The intent is to build a pipeline of skilled employees for a strategic U.S. manufacturing industry.

The immersion, which allowed students to create their own microchip projects, provided full tuition for the week, a $500 stipend per student, housing, meals, and transportation.
