For the first time, RIT will be represented at the First Nations High Power Rocket Launch design competition. Six Native American scholars have committed to building a high-powered rocket for the challenge.

Bing Yan, an assistant professor of electrical engineering, is building a more coordinated system to manage different variables affecting grid energy generation, storage, transmission, and distribution—from extreme weather events to the addition of solar and wind power. 

Twelve RIT alumni have been honored with Distinguished Alumni Awards for the 2023-2024 year. The Distinguished Alumni Awards are presented annually by each of RIT’s nine colleges, the School of Individualized Study, and the RIT Graduate School to alumni who have performed at the highest levels of their profession or who have contributed to the advancement and leadership of civic, philanthropic, or service organizations.

RIT’s VEX Robotics team placed 10th overall among 96 collegiate teams in the recent VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas. Closing a strong 2023 season, the team was also recognized for excellence in technical designs and the overall quality of its program.
