Join us for our Native American Heritage Month Kickoff Celebration!
Wampum Belt Display by Rich Hamell:
From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Fireside Lounge, explore the extensive collection of reproduction wampum belts created by Rich Hamell, Associate Professor Emeritus at Monroe Community College. He will showcase over 120 reproduction wampum belts, explaining their historical significance and the methods used to create them.
Performance by Bill Crouse and the Allegany River Seneca Dancers:
At 1:00 PM in Ingle Auditorium, enjoy a captivating performance by Bill Crouse and the Allegany River Seneca Dancers. Led by Bill Crouse, a member of the Hawk Clan of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the group has been performing traditional songs and social dances of the Haudenosaunee peoples since 1979. Learn about the Seneca language, culture, and the origins of their songs and dances.
Admission is free and open to the public. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
