Picture a Scientist, a Special Film Screening sponsored by the Women in Science Program
Women in Science invites you to an evening reception and the film screening of PICTURE A SCIENTIST! Join us for an evening of reflection and conversations about how to make science more diverse, equitable, and welcoming to all.
Event Description:
WISe invites you to a special screening of the award-winning documentary PICTURE A SCIENTIST, followed by a reception. The movie chronicles the lives and careers of several women scientists (biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring) who experience sexism ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. The documentary also highlights work by social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists who provide new perspectives on how to make science more diverse, equitable, and welcoming to all. After the viewing, there will be an optional follow-up discussion where we will encourage participants to share their thoughts on the movie and reflections about their own experiences in STEM.
All COS students are welcome to attend!
