Technology and Policy Lab and Crime and Digital Assets Clinic, a CPSI CoLAB

The Technology and Policy Lab (TPL) is an interdisciplinary research lab at Rochester Institute of Technology studying the technical, societal, legal, and policy issues related to existing and emerging technologies.

The lab applies data science and other analytical methods to examine the development, use, implementation, and limitations of these technologies. TPL also provides legal, regulatory, and policy guidance to public institutions and private industry.

Additionally, the lab houses the Crime and Digital Assets Clinic, which offers pro bono assistance on criminal cases involving digital assets, including cryptocurrencies and other blockchain-based assets.

TPL’s research includes contributions from student fellows, adjunct fellows, faculty, and external research affiliates from the fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, data science, economics, political science, philosophy, criminology, and public policy.
