Nick Gurewitch and Chris Onstad Bring Comics to Life at RIT
Noted Web artists present ‘Internet Famous: The Life and Times of Nick and Chris’
Nick Gurewitch and Chris Onstad, both major figures in growing field of Web comics, will present a unique talk and performance highlighting some of their most well known works and also including audience participation. The presentation at 8 p.m. Feb. 10 at Rochester Institute of Technology is part of the Caroline Werner Gannet Project’s Visionaries in Motion Series.
The event will include live music and comedy routines. In addition, Gurewitch and Onstad will discuss their creative process and the use of the Internet to promote their work.
Gurewitch is the creator of The Perry Bible Fellowship, which has run in both print and online venues for close to a decade. Two Perry Bible anthologies have been released by Dark Horse Comics and Gurewitch won a 2008 Eisner Award, given for outstanding achievement in American comics, for best humor publication. Onstad is the creator of the popular Web comic Achewood and the e-zine Man Why You Even Got To Do A Thing.
The Caroline Werner Gannett Project was created in 2006 by Mary Lynn Broe, Gannett Professor of the Humanities at RIT. Along with the interdisciplinary Gannett Working Group, Broe brings to campus international scholars, authors and artists in lectures, colloquia and workshops that explore new connections across the sciences, technologies, social sciences and humanities. All Gannett events are free and open to the public.
