Healthcare Research Prepped Grad to be Successful Med School Applicant

December 18, 2024

"I initially enrolled in the MS in Science, Technology, and Public Policy to strengthen my skills in writing and public speaking, as these are not big focuses in engineering. The program has provided an important background in Public Policy and gave me an opportunity to conduct research on healthcare related disparities.

This experience helped me to become a more well-rounded applicant for medical school, many of which have started to place a large emphasis on understanding the social determinants of health and improving care for all patients through health policy.

In my medical school interviews, I shared my education and research experience in public policy and this certainly helped me obtain acceptances from several schools."

— Roman Czornobil, Medical Student at Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Biomedical Engineering BS '24 and Science, Technology, and Public Policy MS '24.
