University Communications is responsible for enhancing RIT's national and global image via public relations, media relations, branded journalism and editorial, social media, and athletics communications.
The team of strategic communicators also leads internal communications and reputation issues management, including crisis communications.
As the primary source of RIT news and information, the team has expertise in assisting students, faculty, and staff gain local, national, and global recognition. The team distributes news and information via multiple print and digital platforms.
University Communications provides the following services:
- Producing a variety of products, including News and Events, RIT in the Headlines, The University Magazine, President's Annual Report, Intersections: The RIT Podcast, as well as stories throughout the RIT website
- Overseeing the university's main social media accounts as well as providing strategy for other accounts on campus
- Drafting and distributing media releases
- Responding to and managing requests from local and national news organizations, as well as garnering media interest in RIT news, including RIT's partnership with The Conversation
- Preparing RIT experts for media interviews and providing support for media relations at events
- Speech writing
- Issues response management
