RIT researcher and students participate in joint project with UR’s Laboratory of Laser Energetics
Students in RIT’s College of Engineering Technology worked alongside faculty-researcher Brian Rice this semester on designing hardware in support of cryogenic inertial confinement fusion experiments. The work, part of a larger initiative with the University of Rochester, is helping to contribute to novel thermonuclear fusion technology solutions in the area of vibration control.

Kamille Davis may have followed her brothers to RIT, but she is a leader in her own right. As the third in her family to graduate from the mechanical engineering technology program, Davis set her own pace early—excelling in classes, on the basketball court, in the laboratory, and in the community.

RIT Baja racing team wins first place overall in return to onsite competitions
RIT Racing won first place overall at Baja SAE racing this past weekend in Tucson, Arizona, after a year of virtual competitions. Taking top five placements in the sled pull, suspension, maneuverability, and a top 20 placement in acceleration, the team placed second in the endurance race.

RIT Rallies: Alumni group develops low-cost emergency ventilator
In early March, RIT alumnus Corey Mack ’11 (mechanical engineering technology) received an email from the U.S. Department of Defense asking start-ups and entrepreneurs to build emergency ventilators for under $300. Within a few days, his idea became a design that complied closely with the required pieces of emergency ventilators.
