The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), established in 1968 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), is the world's largest technological college for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. NTID provides an international model for educating and preparing deaf students for technology-related careers. Its unique placement as one of the eight colleges of RIT allows more than 1,200 deaf and hard-of-hearing students to study and live with nearly 15,000 hearing students on a 1,500-acre campus.
