Fredrick Redd is a multi-talented and veteran singer, actor, and industry professional. He has performed in the US and internationally receiving glowing reviews in London’s Opera Now, Opera News, and the New York Times.
Highlights of over 200 performances in the New York City area, include 8 returns to Carnegie Hall's iconic main stage as a soloist after making his debut in Carmina Burana, his Metropolitan Opera Guild debut singing excerpts of the title role of "Rigoletto", his New York City Opera debut in the Emmy nominated Live from Lincoln Center's production of "Porgy & Bess" and a featured artist in the world premiere of "Stonewall". On the Off-Broadway stage, he has been seen in menacing roles such as the title role as "Emperor Jones" and as Dom Frollo in the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" among others. You may have seen Fredrick singing in commercials for US Open in Flushing, New York for The Tennis Channel or in streamed films as Andrew Young in a "Different Kind of King" or as Barbara Jordan's grandfather Patten in "Barbara Jordan: I Dared to Dream".
Fredrick’s operatic credits include many Italian opera roles by composers Verdi and Puccini. His Verdi roles include Amonasro (Aida), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), Rodrigo (Don Carlo), Giacomo (Giovanna D’Arco) and the title roles in Macbeth, Nabucco and Rigoletto. The Puccini roles include Scarpia (Tosca), Sharpless (Butterfly, Marcello (La Boheme), and Ping (Turandot).
Some notable firsts in 2022 include the title role in Rigoletto with the Metropolitan Opera Guild's series on the Verdi Baritone, debut as Hark (Nat Turner) with the NJ Symphony in the opera Nat Turner, his first Wagner role as Wotan in Das Rheingold (Trilogy Opera), and a featured artists in the 45th William Warfield Scholarship Fund Benefit Concert.
Fred is a member of AGMA, Actor’s Equity (AEA) and is SAG/AFTRA eligible. In Fredrick’s formative years, he studied trombone, piano and took additional studies at the Julliard School and in Italy at the Accademia Chigiana and the Spoleto Vocal Institute. Fredrick has also taught vocal master classes at Brown University, Salem College in North Carolina and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He is currently serving as board member for several non-profit arts organizations including William Warfield Scholarship Fund, Creative Stage Collective and is an Advisory Board member of RIT School of Performing Arts.
Constantly on the go, Fred’s engineering and MBA degrees make him a regular consultant on national projects. Lastly, he is an avid athlete becoming a 2-time Ironman and 4-time marathon finisher.
