Stephen Wershing, CFP®, is President of Focused Wealth Advisors, a financial planning firm that guides clients on designing consistent, reliable, minimally taxed retirement incomes. He incorporates tax planning, Social Security optimization, income portfolio management, and other disciplines to create comprehensive retirement income plans.
Wershing has 37 years’ experience in financial services ranging from financial planner, through branch manager, financial firm executive, to being an advisor to other advisors. Steve has authored many articles for industry trade journals. He has appeared in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Steve served as Past President of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Rochester. He has spoken at financial conferences nationally and internationally. McGraw Hill published his last book on advisor marketing, Stop Asking for Referrals, which was praised as “the best book on marketing in the financial services industry.” He is a Registered Principal of Cambridge Investment Research.
Steve lives in the City of Rochester and has two adult children and two grandchildren. He is a former paramedic. He is a current Board member of The Hochstein School of Music and Dance, a former Board member of the Susan B Anthony Museum and House, and served for seven years on the Henrietta Board of Assessment Review. While photographic science brought him to the Rochester Institute of Technology, he graduated in Business Administration. Since leaving his training in tap dancing as a teenager behind, he now dances West Coast Swing.
