Performing Arts COVID-19 Updates

Statement from RIT Performing Arts

Dear RIT/NTID community,

The show must go on, perhaps even virtually!

As you well know, this is a challenging time for all of us. Navigating through the ever-changing landscape of our current world is rife with set backs and dashed plans. We've recently witnessed theaters, dance studios, and concert halls go dark. Now the greater performing arts community is wrestling with how to bounce back. How do we safely and successfully create performances for our members and patrons?

We live for the performing arts. It is a force that shapes our lives and creates meaning. Knowing this, we say to you: we are still here. We will be here. Plans are currently underway for how to offer performing opportunities in the fall semester. We will have theatre, dance, and music at RIT/NTID in the coming semester. It may not look, sound, or feel the same as it has in the past, but it will exist. Like everyone else around the globe, we are monitoring the current situation and adapting our plans to still bring you a truly exceptional performing arts experience.

RIT is working hard to ensure students, faculty, and staff return to campus for a safe and productive fall semester. The Fall Planning Task Force has been working diligently this summer to design and implement innovative practices and new safety and health standards related to campus living, including how we learn, study, conduct research, collaborate and engage with one another. The Task Force is currently finalizing a full “Reopening Plan,” which will be available to the community in the coming weeks.

Take care of yourself this summer. We look forward to seeing you soon.
