    College of Art and Design’s new ArtEx program opens doors for creative exploration

    RIT students will have more opportunities to flex their creative muscles outside of the classroom through a new program called ArtEx, housed within RIT’s College of Art and Design. The new program creates opportunities for students outside of the college to engage with the resources and expertise available within the School for American Crafts and School of Art.

    Thomas Zurbuchen, astrophysicist and the longest continually serving associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate in NASA’s history, will be the keynote speaker for RIT’s Academic Convocation ceremony starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 12, in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center.

    International programs enhance education

    Programs with RIT’s international campuses are helping to make well-rounded students. Six new scholarships being piloted this year will allow students from RIT’s main campus to travel to RIT Kosovo to explore the origin and resolution of armed conflict, reconstruction, and institution building at the end of wars.

    Matej Dugandzic has long dreamed of owning a luxury hotel in his hometown of Cavtat, Croatia, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. He found a path to achieving his vision when he flipped through the pages of a magazine and found an article about RIT Croatia’s hospitality and tourism management degree.

    Fourth-year student Anna Pasquantonio has always loved National Geographic and has fond memories of collecting animal trading cards from the National Geographic Kids magazine.     Enrollment climbs in accelerated program

    RIT students are working toward a bachelor’s and master’s degree starting from the first day of classes. This past fall, 740 new first-year students enrolled in RIT’s Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree program, designed for highly focused, goal-oriented incoming students.

    RIT scientists reach a milestone in the search for continuous gravitational waves

    Scientists on the hunt for a previously undetected type of gravitational waves believe they are getting close and have refined techniques to use in upcoming observational runs. Researchers from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration outlined the most sensitive search to date for continuous gravitational waves from a promising source in a paper recently published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.

    RIT student to pursue career with DOD through AEOP apprenticeship opportunity, SMART scholarship

    Rochester Institute of Technology second-year mechanical engineering student Julia O’Gorman was in high school when her journey started with the Army Educational Outreach Program. Her apprenticeship experience happened during the COVID-19 pandemic, which meant nearly everything went virtual, but used it to capitalize on opportunities that may not have been afforded to her otherwise – thanks to program leadership through RIT's K-12 University Center who believed in providing those experiences despite the obstacles.
