    RIT Dubai hosts Sheikh Hamdan for the grand opening of new campus

    RIT Dubai held a grand opening ceremony to dedicate its state-of-the-art new campus in the Dubai Silicon Oasis on Nov. 28. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, toured the facilities and inaugurated RIT Dubai’s new home designed for interactive learning along with RIT President David Munson, RIT Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration James Watters, and RIT Dubai President Yousef al Assaf.

    RIT will celebrate international education in all its forms during a wide-ranging series of events featuring invited speakers, informational sessions, cooking and dance workshops, gaming tournaments, and more. The university celebrates International Education Week from Nov. 12 to 19.

    To help bridge new technology with current health care practices, organizations are recognizing the need to hire more health informatics professionals than ever. In an effort to help more qualified people step into this field, RIT has revised its health informatics master’s degree program and partnered with Rochester Regional Health.

    RIT Graduate School Dean Twyla Cummings to retire

    RIT Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School Twyla Cummings will retire from RIT effective June 30. Cummings oversaw the evolution of the Office of Graduate Education to the RIT Graduate School in support of RIT’s Strategic Plan 2018-2025, and RIT added five new Ph.D. programs during her tenure.

    Although they may not be shaking hands this year, Rochester Institute of Technology students will once again be making in-person connections with potential employers for spring co-ops and full-time employment as the university-wide career fair is held Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gordon Field House.

    Registration open for worldwide Mechanics Institute virtual conference

    Registration is open for Mechanics’ Institutes Worldwide 2021, a free virtual conference on Oct. 15 honoring the 200th anniversary of the founding of the first Mechanics Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. RIT's Corinna Schlombs and Liz Call will virtually join experts from around the world as they share knowledge on the start of the Mechanics’ Institute movement in the 19th century and what the movement represents today.

    RIT earns three accessibility awards from software giant Microsoft

    RIT has risen to new heights when it comes to improving upon and providing cutting-edge accessibility solutions by being named a Microsoft Accessible University as part of its latest initiative. RIT is one of only six universities in the United States to receive the designation.
