RIT Dubai hosts Sheikh Hamdan for the grand opening of new campus
RIT Dubai held a grand opening ceremony to dedicate its state-of-the-art new campus in the Dubai Silicon Oasis on Nov. 28. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, toured the facilities and inaugurated RIT Dubai’s new home designed for interactive learning along with RIT President David Munson, RIT Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration James Watters, and RIT Dubai President Yousef al Assaf.

RIT approves alternate grading option for undergraduate students for fall semester
Undergraduate students from RIT’s main campus will be able to select one undergraduate-level class to apply the satisfactory/pass/no pass option. The proposal for the alternate grading option for fall was submitted by RIT Student Government.

To help bridge new technology with current health care practices, organizations are recognizing the need to hire more health informatics professionals than ever. RIT Graduate School Dean Twyla Cummings to retire
RIT Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School Twyla Cummings will retire from RIT effective June 30. Cummings oversaw the evolution of the Office of Graduate Education to the RIT Graduate School in support of RIT’s Strategic Plan 2018-2025, and RIT added five new Ph.D. programs during her tenure.

Students find varied employment opportunities at RIT career fair
At the university-wide career fair on Wednesday, representatives from 108 companies and the military met with students hoping to land a co-op next year, or a full-time position. More than 1,200 students attended the fair in the first hour.

Registration open for worldwide Mechanics Institute virtual conference
Registration is open for Mechanics’ Institutes Worldwide 2021, a free virtual conference on Oct. 15 honoring the 200th anniversary of the founding of the first Mechanics Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland. RIT's Corinna Schlombs and Liz Call will virtually join experts from around the world as they share knowledge on the start of the Mechanics’ Institute movement in the 19th century and what the movement represents today.
