Mary Ryan
BS '88
Mary (Hilburger) Ryan, BS ’88, is currently a Manager, Regulatory Medical Writing for Janssen Pharmaceutical Research and Development, LLC, with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Mary graduated with a BS in biology from RIT in 1988 where she was awarded the David Baldwin Memorial Scholarship in biology for the 1985-86 academic year. Mary was also named an RIT Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar (1986), was inducted into the Mark Ellingson Association (1987), and served as Academics Director of the RIT student government during her senior year. After earning her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the Ohio State University in 1994, Mary completed post-doctoral fellowships at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD, before starting her career as a drug discovery scientist in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. She transitioned to her current role in clinical development in 2016 where she has provided regulatory medical writing support for compounds within the neuroscience, oncology, and immunology portfolios at Janssen. Mary currently resides in Yardley, Pennsylvania with her husband, Richard, and two rescue greyhounds, Dora and Mick. In her spare time, Mary enjoys reading, travel, NASCAR, and keeping active with CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting.
