Salvaggio and students present keynote

Carl Salvaggio, professor in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, and imaging science students Danny Klosinski, Bobby Mancini, Ryan McDonald, Parker Mei, and Karla van Aardt delivered an invited keynote at the SPIE DCS 2025 symposium on April 14 in Orlando, Fla. Their presentation, “Longwave thermal infrared atmospheric correction using in situ scene elements: The multiple altitude technique revisited for small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS),” covered reimagining a 1970s correction method for thermal infrared images, originally developed for manned aircraft, and adapting it for use on drones with modern infrared sensors.
