Information Regarding Executive Orders Affecting DEIA and DEI Initiatives

Ongoing updates

On January 20th and 21st, 2025, President Trump signed Executive Orders (EO), regarding DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and accessibility) initiatives and programs.  These Executive Order gives federal agencies time to review and implement termination of DEI or DEIA initiatives and programs "as allowed by law;" and to issue guidance for private sector compliance to end "illegal DEI discrimination and preferences."

  • Further information relevant to specific awards already made to RIT will be provided by the individual agencies.
  • Principal Investigators receiving specific information from an agency should forward it to their Sponsored Research Services Post Award representative.
  • Proposals in progress should refer to program-specific information and updates provided by the sponsoring agencies.
  • All other questions related to these actions as it relates to a specific Sponsored Research proposal or award should be directed to SRS
