Sponsor Updates for Researchers and Coronavirus

Federal and other sponsoring agencies are issuing guidance on the corona virus and impacts for current and prospective award recipients.  We will list available information below and update it as new information becomes available.  Note that agencies are updating COVID-19 related guidance is frequently.

Council on Governmental Relations.  The Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) is an association of leading research universities, affiliated medical centers and independent research institutes.  COGR is actively monitoring Institutional and Agency Responses to COVID 19 and they are updating it with specific agency information on award impact frequently.  Their site also has FAQs and institutional responses.  If you are looking for guidance from an agency not listed below, it may be listed at COGR.

National Science Foundation.  NSF issued an Important Notice to the Science and Engineering Community on March 23, 2020.  NSF has developed a website for the research community with detailed guidance on the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This includes guidance for applicants and awardee organizations, researchers and reviewers of NSF proposals. Please note that this website will be updated as new developments arise.  Some proposal deadlines have been revised.

National Institutes of Health.  NIH has a website on Coronavirus Diesease 2019 (COVID-19): Information for NIH Applicants and Recipients for applicants and recipients of NIH funding, including Notices and FAQs.  

Department of Defense.  The DOD Office of the Under Secretary for Defence for Research & Engineering has issued "Frequently Asked Questions for DOD Research Proposers and Awardees Impacted by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)."  DOD Congressinally Directed Medical Research Programs have issued COVID-19 FAQs for Grant Applicants and Recipients.  DOD has issued a memo on exemptions for DOD Financial Assistance Recipients related to COVID-19.  

Office of Naval Research.  ONR issued FAQs to current and prospective grant recipients impacted by COVID-19.

Department of Energy.  DOE guidance for COVID-19 is published at their Policy Flashes site, searchable by year and "COVID-19".  DOE Guidance for Financial Assistance Actions is available there.  

NASA. The Coronavirus Information describes NASA's response to COVID-19.   Further information for grantees is available at https://www.nssc.nasa.gov/grants.  NASA has also issued information on base and facilities closures in the attachment below.

Space Telescope Science Institute.  STSCI has a response to COVID-19 page including canceled or rescheduled events and activities.  STScI, NASA, ESA, and CSA had initially delayed the proposal deadline for JWST Cycle 1 GO proposals.  On April 15, 2020, they announced the deadline was postponed until further notice and an update is expected on June 1, 2020.
