What’s Next

As we approach the successful completion of Greatness Through Difference (2018-2025) and celebrate all we have achieved, a summary of which can be found here, we have started asking “what is next?”. The time has come again for RIT to work together in developing our next strategic plan and shared vision of the future.

Compared to previous plans, the next Strategic Plan will identify only a few major themes or pillars, with an accompanying set of supporting initiatives and goals. Not everything that is important to RIT’s future will be represented in the Strategic Plan. Rather, the purpose of the next Plan is to articulate an agreed-upon management framework to pursue a small number of highly consequential directions that will substantially elevate the university, its graduates, and their impact.

Strategic Planning Steering Committee

In April 2024, President Munson established the Strategic Planning Steering Committee (SPSC), which is tasked with overseeing the strategic planning process. The committee will guide the creation of a bold and distinctive strategic plan that aligns with the University's mission, long-term goals, and core values; builds on the success of RIT’s 2018-2025 Strategic Plan; and embraces the challenges and opportunities facing RIT in the coming years.

The SPSC shall:

  • Facilitate broad-based participation and collaboration in the planning process, soliciting input to capitalize on diverse thinking and ensure inclusivity and buy-in.
  • Consult with Administrative Council, Trustees, President’s Roundtable, National Councils, Deans, Faculty, Staff, Students, Middle States Review Team, Parents, Alumni Association, Industry, Public Officials, and Community Partners.
  • Communicate regularly with the University community to keep stakeholders informed about the progress of the planning process and opportunities for ongoing feedback.
