More than 3,000 new students arrive on the RIT campus this week, making it the second largest class.

Ben Clements, a fifth-year mechanical engineering major from Clifton Springs, N.Y., is an RIT student orientation coordinator for this year’s incoming class, and will be supervising around 150 orientation leaders.

A new state-of-the-art golf simulator has been installed in the RIT Student Life Center and will enable students, faculty, staff, and alumni to experience virtual golfing on more than 170 courses around the world.

In response to requests from students, RIT is adding more all-gender bathrooms and locker areas across campus. And soon, people of all genders can be using the same bathrooms at the same time, as RIT plans to incorporate all-gender bathrooms in some buildings, which will provide privacy in stalls, with common areas to wash hands.

The RIT men’s lacrosse team raised the NCAA trophy as Division III National Champions for the second time in as many years on May 29. On Tuesday the team was welcomed back to campus to celebrate Sunday’s exciting game and 12-10 victory over Union College.

Students on the RIT men’s lacrosse team are looking to “pump up the jam” at the NCAA national championship game on May 29. RIT celebrated its 137th academic convocation Friday morning in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. Keynote speaker Kimberly Bryant, founder of the nonprofit organization Black Girls CODE, told the graduates to be proud of their achievement, be excited about what is next in their lives, and remember—with grace—what it took to get to this milestone.

Three RIT/NTID alumni, Mia White, Ethan Ettienne, and Otto Kingstedt, and one current student-athlete, Krystyna Miller, will travel to Caxias do Sul, Brazil, to participate in the 24th Summer Deaflympics, May 1-15.
