Circle Optics was one among 600 applicants that rose to the top five for the program, which will come with an investment of $500,000 to $1 million to help advance the enterprise. Circle Optics is a deep-tech R&D company specializing in wide field-of-view imaging systems, also known as 360-degree cameras.

RIT scientists have uncovered new information about the way coronavirus and several of its variants attach to human cells. The researchers examined how coronaviruses use their spike proteins to attach themselves to the host cells they are attacking.

The three-year study, led by Eric Williams, a professor in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, will look at how the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the transition toward increased telework and mobile working and resulting implications on data security and e-waste.

Student team designs imaging system for CIBER-2 launches
Two electrical engineering students are refining an attitude control system and are seeking ways to reduce the impact of atmospheric heat that changes a spacecraft’s orientation during launch. Both students will share information about their work for CSTARS-2 during the 2021 Undergraduate Research Symposium.
