To help students relax during finals week, Wallace Library is hosting a therapy-dog event from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today. The pup visits have become a regular occurrence on campus. After attending a session, film and animation student Victoria Sebastian made preparing a dog for pet therapy the focus of a class project this fall.

The Memorandum of Understanding will establish student and faculty exchange programs and short- and long-term teaching, learning, research, innovation, discovery and global outreach missions.

The app, known as MUSEAI, is a new self-guided tour platform designed to enhance accessibility for all visitors in museums. Visitors use the app by inputting a number that is placed next to the artwork, which provides them with the description, historical facts, media (video/audio) with captions, audio descriptions and more.

Marlee Matlin will be the featured presenter as part of NTID’s Edmund Lyon Memorial Lectureship Series. Matlin will present on the topic of addiction and recovery, based on her 2009 book I’ll Scream Later.

People of the Third Eye is a collection of pieces created collaboratively by cast members and includes various genres of ASL performance art and poetry, personal narratives, creative storytelling and dramatic monologues.

James DeCaro, RIT dean emeritus and former dean of NTID, died Oct. 23. His colleagues remember DeCaro best for his service to the community, his love for research, and for developing relationships with international universities to revolutionize the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the United States and around the world.

Representatives from more than 50 local and national corporations, federal agencies and nonprofit organizations looking to diversify their workforce will meet with hundreds of deaf and hard-of-hearing students—who also are prospective employees—at the 19th annual Career Fair on Oct. 17.

A 2019 documentary by Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning director Irene Taylor Brodsky will be screened at NTID this week. Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements, the story of Brodsky’s deaf son and her parents, RIT/NTID retirees Paul and Sally Taylor, will be screened at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

“Nuclear Weapons in North Korea: Deal or No Deal?”, a discussion of North Korea’s nuclear armament and the role that technology plays in improving society, will be hosted by RIT as part of its Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
