Exploring Toronto: A Personal Journey for RIT Students
As an RIT student, the hustle and bustle of campus life often keeps us grounded in our academic pursuits, but every now and then, a change of scenery is all you need to hit the reset button.
In Fall break, I embarked on a getaway to Toronto, and let me tell you, the city did not disappoint! It was just over three hours from campus. And from iconic landmarks to hidden gems, the city offered a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. Here’s a glimpse into my Toronto escapade:
1. Niagara Giant Wheel
The Niagara Giant Wheel was nothing short of mesmerizing. As I ascended to the top, the city’s vibrant lights unfolded beneath me, creating a beautiful contrast against the night sky. The gentle hum of the wheel and the cool breeze made it a surreal experience.
2. CN Tower
Standing 553 meters tall, the CN Tower offers an unparalleled view of the city. As I stood on the glass floor, the world beneath me felt like a mosaic of bustling streets, shimmering waters, and green patches of parks. The cityscape stretching to meet Lake Ontario under the setting sun was nothing short of magical.

3. Distillery District
Strolling through the Distillery District felt like walking through a slice of history. The cobblestone streets, artisan shops, and quaint cafes had a charm that made time slow down. It was a perfect spot to sip on a hot chocolate and watch the world go by.
4. Wax Museum
The Wax Museum was an absolute delight! Standing next to life-like figures of iconic personalities felt oddly real. It was a mix of fun and fascination as I snapped pictures with my favorite celebrities (or at least their wax versions!).
5. Dundas Square
Often referred to as Toronto’s answer to Times Square, Dundas Square was buzzing with energy. The digital billboards, street performances, and bustling crowd added to the city’s dynamic vibe.
6. Harbour Front
A walk along the Harbour Front was the perfect way to unwind. The gentle waves, cool breeze, and the distant sound of seagulls created a peaceful atmosphere, offering a much-needed break from the city’s fast pace.
I returned to RIT with a camera roll full of memories and a heart a little fuller. The trip was more than just a getaway, it was a reminder of the beauty of exploration, the joy of spontaneity, and the importance of stepping outside our comfort zones. To my fellow Tigers, if you ever find yourself craving a break, consider hopping over to Toronto. You might just find exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.
Until the next adventure, stay curious!
