Sports and Recreation
At RIT, staying active and having fun go hand in hand. Whether you’re an athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or just looking for a way to unwind after classes, our campus offers a variety of sports and recreation opportunities for every interest and skill level.
Intramural Sports
Join the excitement with our intramural sports leagues, where students of all abilities come together for friendly competition. From flag football and basketball to soccer and volleyball, there’s something for everyone. Gather your friends, form a team, and enjoy the thrill of the game while making lasting memories.
Esports
Since starting an esports club in 2016, RIT has become one of the nation’s largest and best collegiate esports programs. With nearly 300 players and more than 2,000 community members, RIT Esports is bigger than many college athletics programs.
Recreation
You don’t have to play a sport competitively to participate in recreation at RIT. There are a variety of ways for you to get active and have fun with open recreation. Facilities are available to recreation members on a first-come, first served basis during regular business hours unless the space is reserved.
Red Barn Climbing Gym
The Red Barn is home to one of the top collegiate indoor rock climbing facilities in the country. Red Barn Climbing is a bouldering-only gym, where climbs are shorter and falls are protected with padding. Climbing routes are set and maintained to accommodate all skill levels, from beginner to expert.
Red Barn Climbing is currently open to RIT students, staff, faculty and the community (age 18+).
Facilities
RIT is home to a wide range of sports and recreation facilities, including basketball courts, tennis courts, a golf-simulator, fitness center, and much more. These spaces are open to all students and employees, with memberships available for community members, providing the perfect setting for a pickup game, a workout session, or just some leisure time with friends.
