My Experience at RIT's LinkedIn Headshot Event

With the job market becoming increasingly competitive, a professional headshot is essential for making a great first impression online. This LinkedIn Photo Sessions held at the Student Alumni Union (SAU) at the start of the semester was the perfect opportunity to get a polished photo without any cost.

A Seamless Process

Upon arriving at the Fireside Lounge, I was greeted by a buzz of excitement. The line was long—after all, who wouldn’t want a free professional photo? Signing in was simple: I just provided my RIT ID and entered my name, RIT email, personal email, and phone number for the follow-up. The anticipation in the air was palpable as students chatted about their career aspirations while waiting for their turn.

Dressing for Success

One of the highlights of the event was the availability of professional jackets and shirts to borrow for the shoot. It was a thoughtful touch that made everyone feel more confident and ready for their close-up. I slipped into a sleek blazer, feeling the transformation as I looked in the mirror. It’s amazing how the right attire can boost your confidence!

More Than Just Photos

While waiting for my turn, I noticed that a resume review, cover letter review, job search preparations were also taking place. This added an extra layer of value to the event, allowing students to refine their resumes while preparing for their professional photos. It was a reminder that networking and personal branding go hand in hand.

The Final Touch

When it was finally my turn, I stepped in front of the camera, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. The photographers, RIT PJ students, made the experience enjoyable, guiding us to find our best angles and expressions. After a few clicks, I knew I had captured a moment that would enhance my LinkedIn profile.

As I left the event, I felt a sense of accomplishment. Not only had I secured a professional headshot, but I also connected with fellow students and took a step closer to my career goals. Events like this remind us of the importance of investing in ourselves and seizing opportunities that come our way.
