RIT Housing: What it’s like living at 175 Jefferson Road?

After your first year at RIT, you can choose from RIT’s various on-campus housing options, as well as off-campus housing options that suit your needs most! For me, I knew I wanted a single room that was bigger than a dorm room and a private bathroom would be preferable. I also wanted to be close to/on campus to make it easier for me on days I have classes! After a bit of research, 175 Jefferson Road, RIT’s single-living on-campus housing, seemed perfect for me!

What is 175 Jefferson Road?

175 Jefferson Road, or just 175 Jefferson, sits on RIT's campus and offers students an amenity-rich living experience which is ideal for those with independent lifestyles. Amenities come at a great value and include single rooms exclusively with private baths, air conditioning, smart TV in room and RIT Dining micro-market on-site with grab-and-go food items and vending. 175 Jefferson Road has Resident Advisors who offer personal and developmental support to students. The RIT Shuttle provides free transportation to and from 175 Jefferson to other campus locations and local shopping.

What is included in the building?

Included in the building are: Accessible Units, Air Conditioning, Ethernet Jacks, Fire Strobe Lighting, Free Shuttle Service, Furnished, Gender Inclusive, Laundry Facility Building, Live-in Residence Life Staff, Meal Plan Required, MicroFridge in Room, Private Bathroom, Private Sleep Room, Rent Placed on Student Account, Residential Parking, RIT Dining Micro Market, Shared Lounge, Smoke-free, Standard Cable, Television in Unit, Tiger TV, Utilities Included, and Wireless Access.

Why did I choose 175 Jefferson?

I chose 175 Jefferson for many reasons! Firstly, having a single room and private bathroom was important to me. Also, having a TV included in the room and it being furnished is super convenient as well! Second is the on-campus location! This was a huge factor for me when looking at housing, as I was able to get where I needed to go on campus much faster than off-campus housing! Third is the affordability! You would think that having a single room would be more expensive, but that is not the case! A single at 175 Jefferson is much cheaper than a single dorm room in one of the residence halls or a single apartment at Perkins Green or Riverknoll, RIT’s other on-campus apartments! 175 Jefferson doesn’t have a kitchen, which is important to consider whether you would like a kitchen or not, but for me, it was not a big deal having no kitchen, as I would just get food while I was on campus!

Overall, if you are interested in living alone, I recommend looking into 175 Jefferson to see if it is the right housing option for you! You can also use RIT’s Housing Comparison Tool to make it easier to compare the different housing options RIT offers students!
