How It Works

  1. Sign up for Tiger STRIPES and complete your profile. 
  2. Once you find a virtual opportunity that interests you, click the "Apply Now" button and follow the instructions.
  3. Complete your opportunity. You'll build skills, earn skill points, and earn badges. The more opportunities you complete, the more badges you can earn!
  4. Redeem your badges for merchandise.

You can participate in different experiential opportunities which will help you to gain 21st-century skills. You can also keep track of all your badges and achievements, all in one place.

To sign up for Tiger STRIPES experiences, you must create an account on the Excelerate platform. Once your account is created, you can access all RIT-eligible opportunities.

Any high school, undergraduate, or graduate student is eligible to participate regardless of your enrollment status at RIT. 
Tiger STRIPES is free. You can gain lifelong skills, earn badges, and build your resume at no cost to you.
Tiger STRIPES is completely customizable. You can sign up for workshops, virtual internships, competitions, and skill-based programs to fit your schedule.

It’s all about flexibility! Opportunities are both synchronous and asynchronous. You can join live sessions or participate on your own schedule. Some activities happen in real-time, but most allow you to check in whenever you're free, so you can earn badges without missing out on other priorities.

We encourage you to participate in multiple opportunity types! There is no limit to how many opportunities you can participate in. 

You can build skills in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and more. Each badge you earn represents a new set of abilities, giving you the chance to stand out by learning practical skills that go beyond the classroom.

You can earn badges by participating in a variety of experiences that help you build new skills. Each badge represents a different area of achievement, so whether you're learning something new or demonstrating something you're already good at, there's a badge for it. You’ll get recognized for what you accomplish!

Tiger STRIPES opportunities enable you to work with students from around the world. Your Excelerate team leader will help your group determine the collaboration times that work best for the group. Typically there will be asynchronous/independent work, as well as some synchronous weekly assignments and check-in meetings.

No. Tiger STRIPES programs offered on the Excelerate platform are non-credit-bearing. But you can earn digital badges from Excelerate that document your completion of various Tiger STRIPES programs.
