Former Disney executive named RIT’s assistant provost for LA Programs
Tom Connor, former vice president of creative marketing at Walt Disney Co., has been appointed assistant provost at RIT. In addition, Connor, an alumnus of RIT’s School of Film and Animation, has also been named the Paul and Francena Miller Chair in International Education and will serve as a professor of practice in RIT’s College of Art and Design.

Kate Gleason College of Engineering appoints two new department heads
Brian Landi and Katie McConky have been named department heads of the chemical engineering and industrial and systems engineering programs in the college. Both bring extensive teaching, research, and company experience to the academic leadership positions in the engineering college.

Opportunities for students and employers abound at RIT University-wide Career Fair
Nearly 4,000 RIT students looking for co-ops, internships, or full-time employment are attending RIT’s University-wide Career Fair today in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. Recruiters from more than 250 local, regional, and national employers are on hand, including General Dynamics, National Grid, Moderna, Redcom, Penske, Liberty Pumps, Wegmans Food Markets, and Samsung, among others.

ROAR for RIT on Sept. 28-29
Noon on Sept. 28 marks the kickoff of this year’s 18th annual ROAR Day, which provides an opportunity for members of the RIT community to support their favorite parts of the university. Gifts made during ROAR Day fund the future of RIT across every college as well as athletics, diversity and inclusion, performing arts, scholarships, and more.

Earlier this month, an interdisciplinary group of RIT alumni, academics, researchers, and public policy professionals met to discuss ethical and social issues related to emerging technology and its application during a day-long session sponsored and organized by The Liberty Fund and directed by RIT’s College of Liberal Arts Associate Dean Lauren Hall, Ph.D.

RIT’s second week at the 2023 Rochester Fringe Festival
Hundreds of people attended a performance by an RIT-related act during the first week of the 12-day Rochester Fringe Festival, with students, faculty, and staff contributing music, dance, comedy, poetry, photojournalism, in downtown Rochester. And nearly 20 other RIT-related performances are scheduled later this week.

Comics go to college—RIT opens Kubert Comics Lounge and Gallery
Comics fans have a super friend in RIT and a new place to pay homage to legendary DC Comics artist and educator Joe Kubert. The Kubert Lounge and Gallery opens to the public this fall at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection in RIT’s university library. Marvel Comics artist and RIT alumnus Adam Kubert ’81 donated his father’s archive to inspire young artists.
