Designing with a mindset of equity, empathy, and inclusion has earned Assistant Professor Juan Carlos Noguera the Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Design. Noguera is one of four designers from across the country to receive the 2024 Vilcek Foundation Prizes in Design.

Chaos is the only constant in "That Damn Goat," a party, "anti-Covid" video game made by around 60 RIT faculty, students and staff. The project was led by School of Film and Animation faculty Brian Larson (creative director) and Jesse O'Brien (art director).

The 38th edition of the Rochester Institute of Technology student-run art and literary magazine, Signatures, was recently recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English in its annual Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines award program.

Francesca Delaney ’24 (graphic design) gave the "Black Doll Designers" exhibit its visual identity by applying a vibrant design with striking typefaces that was inspired by African textiles and the doll design process.

Flip Phillips, professor of motion picture science, shared a Milestone Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his hand in creating RenderMan, Pixar’s revolutionary software still used today to create the iconic animation look of classic films.

Graphic design, industrial design and interior design students collaborated with the Rochester Public Library and City of Rochester to retrofit a van with library resources and equipment the community can engage with in any location. 

RIT’s presence is widespread in the second edition of Mastering Type, hailed as a crucial guide to typography for print and web design. It is due out in 2025.
