    ‘Cool’ alumni start-up featured in ‘Inc.’

    Gaia, a company founded by RIT alumni, was featured in an Inc. article listing the top eight “Coolest College Startups” as named by the Student Startup Madness competition at South by Southwest. This company is almost entirely run by RIT students and alumni.

    John Porcellino, author of From Lone Mountain, will do a reading and signing on April 10, and Caitlin Yarsky, artist for the Image Comics series Coyotes, will hold a discussion and signing on April 19.

    RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences will present the Melbert B. Cary Jr. Award to Stephen Nigro, president of HP Inc.’s 3D printing business. The award is given to those who have distinguished themselves in the advancement of technology in graphic communications and related industries.

    Photography alumnus lands at ‘New York Times’

    Tom Brenner ’16 (photojournalism), who almost quit photography, is now part of the White House Press Corps as a New York Times photographer. His duties include taking photos of the president and anyone who visits the White House for a public event.

    University Gallery hosts exhibit of prints from space

    An exhibition of otherworldly photographic images taken during NASA astronaut Donald Pettit’s time aboard three space flights will canvas the walls of RIT’s University Gallery through the end of April. An opening reception will be held Thursday.

    Dyer Arts Center features ‘Beyond Form’ exhibit

    A new exhibit at NTID’s Dyer Arts Center features the artwork of deaf artists during “Beyond Form: Non-Objective Art.” More than 15 professional artists who are deaf or hard-of-hearing are participating in the exhibit; five of those artists are RIT/NTID alumni.
