2019 Senior Soft Studio I: Apparel Design
Senior Industrial Design students were challenged to design a garment based on Mossimo Vignelli's Design Manifesto, a document archived alongside the Design: Vignelli clothing line in the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at RIT. Students began their work by researching trends, silhouettes, and sketching techniques based around their chosen principle. Students then explored drafting, modifying, and fitting flat paper patterns as well as beginner draping techniques. Multiple rounds of samples were constructed, fit, deconstructed, and reconstructed before the final prototypes you see here were produced.
