Music is Art Festival Events 2009-Present
Music is Art is a Buffalo Not-for-Profit organization whose mission is to provide music and art opportunities for children in Buffalo public schools. Founded by Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac, the organization holds an annual festival called the Music is Art Festival, which is held in September on the grounds of the Albright-Knox Gallery.
As a member of the Music is Art Marketing Committee, I assist every year with activities for the Kid's Village area of the Festival. I plan activities that are fun, inexpensive and easy to do, and enlist the assistance of RIT Honors and Graphic Design students to help patrons in the booth.
In addition, I designed Mingle, a lettering style that was created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Music is Art, in 2013.
This was a collaboration with Carol Fillip, who serves on the
Board of Directors of Music is Art.
I also created a series of Monsters that were used for the 2009 Music is Art Festival.
Carol Fillip and I received the Gitner Family Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Graphic Communication in 2011 for our Pro Bono design and promotion efforts on behalf of Music is Art.
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate during the 2013, 2014, and 2015 Festivals....cold and rainy!!! Hope for good weather for the 2016 Festival!
