Photomicrographs of Snowflakes January 1-2, 2014
January 1, 2014 it started to snow late in the afternoon. It seemed the temperatures would be good for photographing the snowflakes. By 6:30pm January 2, more than 12" of snow had fallen in downtown Rochester. There was an additional 4-8 inches forecast for the overnight that would end January 3rd. The temperatures continued to fall during the storm bottoming out at -5F late Friday evening. Often following a big storm, a beautiful day follows with great light and clear skies. January 4th was that day.
