Bio
Divya Ramjee is an assistant professor in the Department of Public Policy and Department of Criminal Justice at the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as a researcher at the ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute. Dr. Ramjee is the director of the Technology & Policy Lab (TPL) at RIT and the Crime & Digital Assets Clinic (CDAC). She is also an adjunct fellow (non-resident) in the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Dr. Ramjee’s research focuses on security, privacy, and policy issues related to cybersecurity, cryptocurrency and blockchain analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies. Under her direction, the Technology & Policy Lab examines these complex issues using various statistical and computational research methodologies and regularly provides guidance to the public and private sectors. Within TPL, the Crime & Digital Assets Clinic offers pro bono assistance to community members and law enforcement on criminal cases involving digital assets, including cryptocurrencies and other blockchain-based assets.
Prior to joining RIT, Dr. Ramjee spent over a decade working at nonprofit organizations and various federal government agencies including the Executive Office of the President of the United States, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and, most recently, the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section at the U.S. Department of Justice. Dr. Ramjee is a dual graduate of the Ohio State University and received her dual MS from the Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and School of Advanced International Studies and her PhD from the American University’s School of Public Affairs.
