Bio

Lisa Chase, Ed.D. became vice president and secretary of the university in March 2020, reporting jointly to the president and the chair of the RIT Board of Trustees. She is responsible for the university’s official seal, charter, bylaws, and governance documents, working in collaboration with the board.

Prior to this role, Dr. Chase, (then-Dr. Cauda), served for 15 years as vice president of Development and Alumni Relations. In this role, she led the growing division of fundraisers and alumni professionals, along with the service providers, engaged in securing philanthropic support and alumni engagement across the university. She was instrumental in conceptualizing and launching the Transforming RIT: The Campaign for Greatness blended campaign.

Dr. Chase holds a BS in human resources from the University of Delaware, an MA in corporate and public communication from Seton Hall University, and an Ed.D. in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.

Organization and Leadership in Higher Education

3 Credits

This course examines features of core functional areas of modern higher education. The course focuses on the administration of higher education institutions and includes (1) historical contexts for higher education; (2) student experience; (3) academic and administrative issues; (4) infrastructural concerns, including planning, technology, and facilities management. This course uses a survey perspective of these areas to provide a foundation for understanding the dimensions found within higher education. This course is open to RIT students with a graduate status, or those with department permission.
