Bio

Soumya Gupta is a faculty member in the Liberal Arts Department at RIT Dubai where she teaches Economics. At present she also works as a research economist at the Tata- Cornell Institute for Agriculture and Nutrition at Cornell University, and serves as a visiting fellow at the American University of Sharjah. Her research interests lie at the intersections of food security, agriculture, and maternal and child nutrition. She has published widely in top field journals and her research has been shared at conferences in the fields of applied economics, nutrition and gender globally.

Microeconomics studies the workings of individual markets. That is, it examines the interaction of the demanders of goods and services with the suppliers of those goods and services. It explores how the behavior of consumers (demanders), the behavior of producers (suppliers), and the level of market competition influence market outcomes.
