Self-Defense

Self-defense is the empowerment of knowing that safety lies in your hands, combining awareness, confidence, and practical skills to protect yourself in any situation.

This class teaches skills necessary to make an educated decision in the event of a physical threat. It begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance, while progressing on to basic hands-on defense training. This class is taught by a certified instructor and provides opportunities to practice avoidance and physical techniques in a controlled environment.

Renato Lage, a 4th degree black belt Master and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion teaching Brazilian Jiu. Leading 5 gyms under Gracie Humaita in Brazil as head coach, Renato is now leading a revolutionary self defense program in RIT University where you can learn to protect yourself from a variety of dangerous real life situations.
