Immersion Requirements

All undergraduate students must complete an Immersion as part of their General Education requirements to graduate. An Immersion is a concentration of 3 courses in a General Education area. Do note that not all courses are offered at RIT Dubai, but enough courses are offered for students to be able to complete the immersion.

Immersions available at RIT Dubai

Note that you must declare your immersion on SIS.  Without doing so, you will not be able to graduate, even if you complete the 3 courses necessary for the immersion!

When should I declare?

You are advised to declare your immersion as soon as you take the first course of the immersion you want to pursue. Requirements sometimes change and entire immersions might even be cancelled. If you declare the immersion, any such changes will not affect you. But if you have not declared the immersion and a change occurs, you will not be able to revert to the previous requirements, even if you completed all 3 courses under those requirements.

What if I change my mind?

Declaring an immersion carries no risk as you can always change the immersion at any time, if you choose to complete a different immersion.

How do I declare my immersion?

  1. Log in to your Student Center (SIS)
  2. Click on the "My Academics" link on the left side navigation bar
  3. Select "Declare/Change Immersion" and follow the instructions provided.
