Bookends Documentary Premiere
The film Bookends details the development process of two unique forms created by renowned artist Wendell Castle and designer Josh Owen, director of RIT's Vignelli Center for Design Studies. Directed by Alex Freeman, a graduate of RIT’s industrial design program, this documentary explores each designer’s unique approach to the product, while highlighting the challenges and ultimate success of the manufacturing process.
A premiere screening of the 12-minute film, followed by a panel discussion and Q-and-A, took place Friday, Oct. 14, in MAGIC Spell Studios' Wegmans Theater. The panel discussion featured key players involved in the design and development process of the product as well as the film: Alex Freeman (filmmaker), Wendy Marks (director of RIT's Shop One), Kevin Marks (Bookends project coordinator), John Truex (Borough Furnace) and Josh Owen (moderator).
