COLA Next Steps Workshops: Get Job Market and Grad School Ready

All College of Liberal Arts students are invited to join any or all of a special series of workshops this month designed to get you ready to hit the job market or succeed in grad school applications.
Whether you're a fourth-year student who's graduating soon or a first-year in the early stages of tracking toward career goals, every COLA student is invited to attend workshops including:
Tuesday, February 25, Mosaic Room, SAU
- 4-5 p.m. Dinner and Networking. Join us for a friendly chat and free dinner together with your fellow job-searching classmates and COLA team members.
- 5:30-6:30 Thinking about graduate school? with RIT’s Career Counselor, Tabitha (TJ) Vick with guidance on the early stages of considering graduate school options, reflections on important questions to ask yourself about your academic future, a review of the typical application process, and resources for taking the first step.
- 6:30-7:30 Marketing Yourself for the Professional World Krystle Ellis, an RIT alum who's dynamic professional career, notable accolades, and spirit of unstoppable positivity is sure to inspire. Get insights on personal branding, networking, and strategies to stand out to potential employers. Don't miss this opportunity to gain expert advice from someone who’s been in your shoes.
Wednesday, February 26, Stan McKenzie Commons
- 4-5 p.m. Dinner and Networking. Jonathan Ghent, advisory board member for COLA's Advertising and Public Relations program and founder and CEO of WritLarge PR Agency, will join you for this dinner and networking. Take advantage of a special chance to get advice and perspective from a professional with more than 25 years in PR and corporate communications!
- 5-6:30 p.m. Resume Writing Workshop with members of the College of Liberal Arts team. Tips and practice for how to craft an effective resume, avoid common mistakes, and focus your experiences to stand out to employers. Plus, bring your resume as it is now for an on-the-spot review. Leave the workshop with a polished, updated resume and be ready to apply to positions confidently.
Thursday, February 27, SAU Fireside Lounge
- 6-8 p.m. COLA Alumni Panel hosted by the Student Advisory Board. Hear from COLA grads about their educational and professional journeys, participate in a Q&A, and grab some yummy food. All COLA members are welcome.
