College of Computing Dean's Lecture Series presents Rudy Raymond, Executive Dir. Global Technology and Applied Research, JPMorgan Chase
College of Computing Dean's Lecture Series presents:
Rudy Raymond, Executive Director of Global Technology and Applied Research, and Head of Quantum Computing Applications, JPMorgan Chase
Talk Title: Revolutionizing Modern Industries with Quantum Technology: A case study for the Financial Industry
Abstract: Quantum computing can efficiently solve complex combinatorial optimization problems in industries like finance. This talk will cover research at JPMorgan Chase's Global Technology Applied Research, focusing on the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA) and a novel method using Quantum Random Access Code (QRAC). This method has shown superior performance compared to other quantum methods and matches top classical solvers on standard benchmarks.
Speaker Bio: Rudy Raymond is Executive Director of Global Technology and Applied Research at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and a technical advisor at Keio University. He specializes in applying quantum computing to real-world financial problems. With a Ph.D. from Kyoto University, Rudy has over 18 years of experience in Quantum Computing, AI, and Optimization. He has worked at IBM Research Tokyo and the University of Tokyo, and has delivered lectures globally. He has received multiple awards, including IEEE QCE Best Paper Awards and the IPSJ Yamashita SIG Research Award.
