A Conversation with Caitlin Cass

Event Image
An illustrated picture with three women, the first wearing pink and holding a sign that says, "Voting Rights Now", the second wearing black/grey with a flag that says, "Votes for Women" and the third wearing olive green handing out pamphlets. Above them, there are the words, "Suffrage Song" with simple ghost doodles around the words.

Renowned writer, cartoonist, and artist Caitlin Cass, author of the new graphic novel Suffrage Song, is visiting RIT for an artist talk. The event is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Munson Music Loft, room 2120 in the SHED.

Cass makes comics, cartoons, and art installations about failing systems and irrational hope, and her political cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker, The Lily, and The Nib. Cass is also a well-recognized artist, with her 2020 solo exhibition "Women’s Work" being awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Join the College of Art and Design and the Cary Graphic Arts Collection to discuss how art, gender, and political activism intertwine in the past and modern world. Additionally, Cass' books will be available to purchase.
