Abstract:
All professors have surely made mistakes while teaching - including both of us. The on-the-spot answer seemed easy: just regroup, revisit, move on. But upon reflection, we found we had a lot more to talk about and share. Just as books about sailing include instructions for what to do if you run aground (shift weight to the rear of the boat and push back with an oar to get unstuck), similar guidance might be useful as to how to push back and ride the tide to smooth sailing after a bad day.

Intended Audience: Undergraduates, graduates, faculty and staff.
