COSLISC: LGBTSTEM Day

All day celebration of queerness in STEM. Starting off with free breakfast (muffins by Soulistic Sweets and coffee) and a poster signing that will be displayed in Gosnell to show queer visibility and allyship. Moving into a faculty panel of queer professors sharing their experiences and discussing available campus resources. Faculty panel will be followed by a guest speaker as an implementation of “COSLISC: The QueerSci Talks”, which is a speaker seminar series hosting queer scientists to give talks on their work/research, professional journey, and queer experiences. Guest speaker is Dr. Camila Amaral, a physics education researcher on LGBT+ and women physicist social networks. The second half of the day will include a free pizza lunch and handing out goodies by us and other queer clubs who will be tabling and networking. We will then hold the student panel, similar to the faculty panel but focused on LGBTQ+ student experiences and issues in STEM classrooms. Finally concluding the day with closing statements from COSLISC about our club, summary of other accomplishments/events, and future directions. (Including ImagineRIT: Rainbow Science, save the date!)
