Topic: What’s Scholarly Impact, Anyway?

Abstract:
The desire to impact different stakeholders, including researchers, students, and society, is a long-term aspiration of most academics—a search for the “Holy Grail.” What is scholarly impact? How should we measure it? How can we accelerate the impact of our research and teaching activities? How can we produce relevant research? This presentation addresses these questions by describing management theory and research that helps us understand relevance and impact—and how to improve both. The presentation will interest researchers and educators aiming to accelerate the impact of their work—as well as university leaders and administrators.
